Who is responsible
DailyDay operates this website and is the controller of the personal data described here. Questions and rights requests go to editors@example.com.
What we collect
- Server logs. Requests to the site are logged by our hosting provider with an IP address, timestamp, requested URL, referrer and user-agent. This is necessary to serve pages and to detect abuse. Logs are retained for a short operational period and then deleted.
- Newsletter subscription. If you subscribe, we store the email address you give us and the date. That is all we need, and we use it only to send the newsletter you asked for.
- Analytics. Only if you consent. Aggregate measurement of which articles are read; no attempt to build a profile of you across sites.
- Advertising. Only if you consent and only once advertising is enabled on the site. Advertising partners may then set their own cookies, described in the cookie policy.
- Editorial accounts. Staff logins store an email address and authentication data. Readers never need an account.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not use your email address for advertising or share it with advertisers.
Legal bases
We rely on legitimate interests to serve and secure the site, on your consent for analytics, advertising and the newsletter, and on contract for staff accounts. Where consent is the basis, you can withdraw it at any time from the cookie preferences link in the footer or by using the unsubscribe link in any newsletter.
Processors
We use third parties to host the site, store the article database and deliver email. They act on our instructions under contract, and they may process data outside your country under recognised transfer safeguards. We choose providers that do not require us to hand over more than the service needs.
How long we keep things
Server logs: short-term, for operations and security. Newsletter addresses: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Consent preferences: stored in your browser, not on our servers, until you clear them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to processing, receive a copy in a portable format, and complain to a supervisory authority. Write to the address above and we will respond within one month.
Children
This site is written for a general adult audience. We do not knowingly collect data from children, and we do not build interest profiles of minors.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the date above and note the change on this page rather than replacing it silently.
