Cookie policy
We use as little browser storage as possible, and nothing optional runs before you allow it.

Necessary storage
Two small values are stored in your browser so the site behaves the way you left it: your colour-mode choice (light, dark or follow system) and your cookie preferences themselves. Both live in local storage on your device, are never sent to us as identifiers, and cannot be used to track you elsewhere.
Signing in to the editorial area sets an authentication cookie. Readers never receive one.
Analytics — optional
If you allow analytics, we measure which pages are read and how people arrive, in aggregate, so we can decide what to write more of. If you decline, no analytics script is loaded at all — we do not load it in a "cookieless mode" and count you anyway.
Advertising — optional
Advertising is not currently enabled on this site. If we enable it, advertising slots stay empty and no partner script loads unless you have allowed advertising cookies. Those partners would then set their own cookies under their own policies, and we would list them here before turning anything on.
Personalisation — optional
Used only to remember reading preferences such as sections you have chosen to follow. Never used to sell or share behavioural data.
Changing your mind
Your choices are not final. Use the button below, or the “Cookie preferences” link in the footer, at any time. You can also clear site data in your browser settings, which resets everything described here.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
We treat an opt-out signal from your browser as a refusal of optional storage. In practice that means analytics and advertising stay off unless you explicitly allow them here.
